About Us

We are G and Ray, college graduates in Journalism and Computer Engineering respectively, reppin the AZ; a couple of 20-somethings caught somewhere between being kids and being old, and somewhere between “Let’s go see the entire world!” and “We really just want to have a vegetable garden.”

We’re 26 and 27 years old and have known each other way too long to think either one of us is as cool as we like to think we are. G knows Ray was the tubby kid with dorky glasses and Ray knows G was the tomboy who thought it was socially acceptable for a girl to have a buzz cut and wear tshirts and sweatpants EVERY DAY if she wants to! (No, Seriously! Look here’s the proof!)

5th Grade, Ages 10 & 11

We’ve been friends since 5^th grade, “friends with benefits” since 8th (ah…hormones!), and a loving, doting, oh-god-gag-me-with-a-SPOON! couple for 2 years 3 years. We’re friends first and the kind of couple that plays hockey together by day and eats candlelit dinners by night. We like to challenge the heck out of each other on all levels anyway, so this trip is going to be insanity on a stick. We figure by the end of this, having known each other for 20 years, we’ll either call it permanent – or kill each other.

We believe in LIVING BIG – UNAFRAID, ATTENTIVE and APPRECIATIVE of the world around us! We’re not some hack kids without a clue dodging responsibility; we’re doing it because we CARE and are INTERESTED in the world and the people around us. We want to ram head-first into language and cultural barriers and survive, eat crazy foods (and survive!), live incredible experiences, learn firsthand about the history, cultures, religions, of so many amazing places.

And no we’re not goin on Daddy’s trust fund or (sadly) because we won the lottery. We SAVED HARD for this trip by living in a social CAVE for the past two years, and planned for it til we’re cross-eyed many a long night! But we’ve survived on good humor and a dream, and if you’re reading this now…
